Moreland Community against the (East West) Tunnel (MCAT) gets under way

[By Sue Bolton] We had a successful first meeting with 45 people on November 28 to launch the group.  This follows on from the 160-strong public meeting organised by the Moreland Council in West Brunswick. The group has been set up independently of the council but will be involved in and support the council’s campaign. (See articles below.)

MCAT will campaign in all parts of Moreland against the East West Link and in support of public transport projects in Moreland. There are some parts in the north of Moreland, which have no public transport.

We are about to start contacting local groups to see if they would like to participate in MCAT. Our first meeting involved concerned individuals as well as people from Climate Action Moreland, Brunswick Residents Network, Moreland Bicycle Users Group and Upgrade Upfield Line Campaign.

Below are the details of our next meeting which will begin to plan out activities. I hope you can come. If you can’t attend, let us know your ideas.

Initial contact people for the group are: Sue Bolton 0413 377 978; Riki Lane 0400 877 819; Michael Petit 0417 354 169.
